A Sample from my Reading Journal

I read Love That Dog.  I wonder why a boy named Jack does not like poetry.  Jack got a dog that got hit by a car.  Jack finally wrote a poem about his dog.  Jack wrote more poems.  This is the poem Jack wrote.

Love that dog like a bird loves to fly.

I said I love that dog like a bird loves to fly.

Love to call him in the morning.

Love to call him, “Hey there, Sky!”

Summer and Sun

(With thanks to Bobbi Katz for her wonderful poem, ‘What Shall I Pack in the Box Marked “Summer”?’)

I will pack . . . . . . .

A lake and a dock to jump off,

A blooming flower,

A star from the midnight sky,

A mango smoothie,

A pond flowing to be seen,

A firework going BOOM

So people will be there soon,

Bright blue sky and a fluffy cloud,

A candied apple,

A beautiful, golden puppy,

And a book.

Fall is here!  Hurry!

The Apple Cider!

Have you ever tasted homemade apple cider?  I have.  It’s really good.  I got to see them make it at the Tunbridge Fair.  Did you see the apple cider man?  Did you like the cider?  I liked the cider.  It was very cool.  They showed how to press the apples to make the cider.  I heard squish, squish, squash, squash.  We got to taste the cider.  It was very good, sweet and appley.  I liked it a lot.  I liked to watch them make the cider.  The apple cider was the best thing in the whole Tunbridge Fair.

My Puppy

I got her only at six weeks old.  She was a baby.  She was so cute.  We named her Casey.  She is a pure Golden Retriever.  She is a sweet little girl.  She likes to go on walks to the barn or the mailbox.  We do walks in the morning.
