The Vine!

Did you get to swing on a vine?  I did.  It’s very cool!  I was walking there in the woods, and I saw a vine.  I pulled at it.  It was sturdy, so I went swinging on it.  It was so much fun!  I couldn’t believe I was on the vine swinging on it!  So I called my brother, Ben, and he tried swinging on it too.  He said it was so much fun too!

Important Numbers

Seven is important to me because it is the number of the weeks of how old my puppy is right now.  Twenty-three is important to me because I was born on the 23rd.  I also like the number of the year I was born.

The New Puppy

If you were in the car, you would see a new puppy.  She was six weeks old when we got her.  She mostly slept during the hour and a half ride.

When we got home, there was a baseball on the floor.  She tried to eat the baseball.  She pushed the ball away and then pounced on it.

After two days of trying to think of a name, we finally got a name for her—Casey.  Casey was cute and cuddly.  She liked her new home.  First, she didn’t know any tricks, but now she knows sit, stay, and come.  Right now she is eight weeks old, and very bitey in the morning.  It really hurts.  Casey is coming for one of my shares.  Casey is cute!

The Night We Got Casey

It was dark out, and we were still driving, and when we finally found the road, there were blinding lights.  There were dogs!  One was a German shepherd, and all of the rest were Goldens, and they were jumping out on our car!  They were huge!  When we were at the house, the three female Golden retriever puppies were in a car.  The one we got was long and sort of fat.  She was soooooo cute.  Her name was Casey, and she is my wonder.

Bill’s Baseball Goal–a Perseverance Walk

Perseverance Walk

Who do you know that has lived a life of grit and determination to reach a big goal?  That was the challenge put before the 2nd/3rd graders.  They each interviewed a “gritty” person and shared a tale of perseverance.

 Bill’s Baseball Goal

He watched the Red Sox.  He also watched his older brother play.  He studied baseball.  He practiced every day for eight hours.  Some obstacles were that he was too short and his mom was very sick.  It helped him learn not to give up, and if you work really hard, you will succeed!

Wolf Life Cycle

I read about wolves.  An important vocabulary word in my book is regurgitate.  It means partially digested meat to feed the pups.  Wolves live in North America, Europe, and more.  The leader is called the alpha male.  A baby wolf knows how to howl when it is born.  It goes from one-day old pup to three-week old pup to eight-month old pup to adult wolf.

Hit (how-to writing)

Hit is a fun game.  First, you will need two ropes and a group of friends.  You choose a person to be in the idle.  Ask that person to close their eyes and point to a person.  Whoever he is pointing to has to jump the snake.  Ask two people to wiggle the ropes, and the person in the middle has to jump over the ropes while spelling, “HIT,” three times.  If he does it, he wins.  This is very fun!
